“Despite the rain, we braved the wet streets to explore the basket market and discovered the incredible craftsmanship of Senegalese women. Our day continued with visits to Bratimee Hospital and the Institut International De Sante Integrale, witnessing firsthand the growth and impact of Christian ministries. We ended the day helping missionaries move into their new home, celebrating new beginnings and the faithful provision of God.”
This morning began slowly and we soon set off for the basket market where we were amazed by the craftsmanship of the Senegalese women. Even when the rain started pouring we didn’t let it stop us from shopping. We braved the wet streets and puddles to reach the artisan market. Many businesses closed up and people took shelter but we continued to explore dodging all the motos that were still out traveling around the town.
Our next stop was Bratimee Hospital, the only Protestant Christian hospital in the area. Established in 2005 with 100 beds —it’s a crucial facility. We were pleasantly surprised to run into 3 familiar faces from the church that helped with our eye clinic project! It was a wonderful display of the Christian community’s increase and impact in the area.
After the hospital visit we headed to the Institut International De Sante Integrale—a Christian nursing school that opened in 2021. This school provides a three-year program to address the high demand for medical workers. Currently there are 43 students training to become nurses. The need for skilled professionals is great and it’s clear that prayer and support are essential for their growth in this ministry. Here— I could see God’s increase at work through the development of both the institution and it’s students.
In the afternoon we enjoyed dinner with C, an aXcess international worker who had been with us to see the hospital and nursing school. We were also eagerly waiting for the B’s moving truck (missionaries), which had been on the road all morning with their belongings. We got the call during dinner that the truck finally made it! So we went to help them unload and tour their new home. It was an exciting moment for them symbolizing the start of their new chapter here.
Verse of the day: No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. -1 Corinthians 10:13
